Calendar for November attendance goal
Notes from the Principal
I wanted to start out by thanking the 37 VIPs (Very Important Parents) that were able to make it out to VIP Day on November 21st. It was uplifting to see you all experience a glimpse of what we do at Hawthorne and my greatest hope is to be able to accommodate more VIPs next time!
November attendance at Hawthorne was a bit of a struggle with more than a third of school days not making our 90% attendance goal. Let's see if we can improve in the 15 school days that December has to offer!
Conferences also happened. Last month, I shared that our goal was to meet with 100% of our families. Although we didn't quite reach that goal, we met with 94% of you, which is more than the last 3 years! That was a success in my eyes. Thank you for making it a priority to partner with our teachers in that way. I hope you walked away with useful and supportive information.
I look forward to the month ahead as I watch your scholars learn and grow and partner with you in the education of our Bears!
-Mrs. González
Empathy
Character Trait of the Month: Empathy
As we enter the month of December, we want to keep in mind how Empathy plays a role in our interactions with others and throughout the upcoming holidays. We look forward to celebrating our Hawthorne Heroes with Nikki Davidson, a K-9 Control Officer.

Important Reminders:
  • Transfer Request: All transfer requests are online and are due by Friday, January 31st. All in-district and out-of-district transfer requests made after January 31st will be considered after Labor Day, if we have ample space in classrooms at the grade level placement requested.
  • Cold Weather: Just a friendly reminder that we continue to go outside to play in the colder weather. Please be sure to wear clothing appropriate for the weather, including a winter coat, hat, and/or mittens when necessary if the temperature is above 20 degrees. Don't hesitate to let us know if you need help with winter gear for your child!
  • Bus Zone: A friendly reminder that bus zones are designated solely for buses. We appreciate your cooperation in ensuring the safety of children during drop-off and pick-up.

Food drive
November 18-December 13
Join the holiday fun and help families in need by donating canned goods and nonperishable treasures!
Every food item your den collects scores you 1 point, and the den with the most goodies snags a sweet 50-point bonus! But wait, there’s more! If we hit 1300 items, our brave Den Leaders will get a pie in the face! And if we reach 1500? Our Assistant Principal, Mr. Alexander, will rock a tutu and an elf hat at lunch! Let’s keep the good vibes rolling and make this a jolly season!
